ABOUT ME

Graham Denmon is a Christian violinist who has been captivating audiences with his soulful performances since the age of 10. A prodigy from Pittsburgh, Graham made his debut with the Pittsburgh Symphony at Heinz Hall during the Tiny Tots Concert, showcasing his extraordinary talent at a young age. Over the years, he has earned multiple accolades, including being a multiple-year winner of the Pittsburgh Concert Society and winning the prestigious Klein Violin Competition Award with the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra.

Graham’s journey has been marked by remarkable opportunities to share the stage with some of the most renowned musicians. He has opened for Tim Reynolds of The Dave Matthews Band, Detroit jazz violinist Gerald Damion, Pittsburgh jazz violinist Rodney McCoy, and Boyd Tinsley at the James Street Café. His performances have also included a moving tribute at the 9/11 memorial service in Somerset County.

Music runs deep in Graham’s family. His father, a choir director and singer, introduced him and his brother to music at a young age, believing it was uncommon for young African American men to play stringed instruments. Starting the violin at the age of five, Graham’s early years were shaped by his father’s encouragement and discipline, even though he didn’t always enjoy practicing. Looking back, he now plays the very songs that his father insisted he master, recognizing the invaluable role that persistence played in shaping him into the musician and man he is today.

For Graham, the violin is more than just an instrument; it’s a medium of love and romance. His performances are an invitation to his audience to experience the depth of his music on a spiritual, mental, and physical level. When Graham plays, he strives to bring his audience into the world he inhabits, sharing and embracing the profound emotions that his music conveys.
